Governor David Umahi of Ebonyi State, yesterday, declared Thursday and Friday public holidays to enable civil and public servants in all primary and secondary schools to collect their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs).

In a statement, in Abakaliki, by the state Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Uchenna Orji, the governor said the holidays are necessary to enable those that have not collected their PVCs to do so.

He directed them to proceed to their respective councils’ Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) collection centres to collect their PVCs, bearing in mind that deadline for collection is January 29.

The statement reads: “In consideration of INEC’s deadline for collection of PVCs nationwide, Governor of Ebonyi State, David Umahi has declared two days public holiday from Thursday 26  to Friday 27 January, 2023, for all civil and public servants, as well as those working in primary and  secondary schools.”
