Umara creates science, technology ministry to lift Borno
Borno State Governor Babagana Umara has announced the creation of a Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MSTI) to enhance the socio-economic development of the state.
The development processes, according to him, are to be implemented through appropriate technological inputs into productive activities of various sectors of the state’s economy.
Umara disclosed this yesterday, while swearing in 19 of the 22 commissioners at Government House, Maiduguri, saying the new ministry would deploy modern technology in the effective management of government activities.
“The activities are, revenue generation and electronic information dissemination to various government ministries, departments and agencies (MDAs), among others.
“The new ministry will establish and maintain mechanism for empowering youths in skills acquisition, entrepreneurial development, as well as vocational and technical trainings,” he said.
