UNIBEN alumni donate computers, furniture to alma mater
The University of Benin (UNIBEN), Computer Science Department class of 1998, at the weekend held its 20th anniversary reunion with the donation of computer sets, furniture and laboratory equipment to the institution.
The donation was received by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academics), Prof. Pius Iribhogbe, who lauded the gesture of the alumni. Iribhogbe, who represented the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Farraday Orumwense, said the role of the alumni couldn’t be overemphasized as the body had continued to play a huge role in the development of the institution through their various donations.
Nike Nwokocha, who spoke on behalf of class of 1998, said the reunion was a commitment made possible by members, who were passionate about their alma mater. Nwokocha applauded the lecturers in the department of computer science for grooming them to turn out successful.
The Head of Department (HOD), Computer Science, Dr. Dawodu and a former HOD, Prof. Emmanuel Onibere, commended the efforts of the members of Class 1998 for remembering their alma mater and supporting the department with computers and furniture.
