UNIJOS appoints Nyong as adjunct professor

University of Jos (UNIJOS) has appointed Prof. Anthony Nyong as adjunct professor to share his wealth of experience with students and researchers in the area of climate change and related disciplines.

University of Jos (UNIJOS) has appointed Prof. Anthony Nyong as adjunct professor to share his wealth of experience with students and researchers in the area of climate change and related disciplines.

Nyong is an experienced academic and expert in several areas, including Environmental Management, Climate Change, Renewable Energy, Natural Resource Management and Green Growth.

The Deputy Registrar, Information and Communications, Abdullahi Abdullahi, disclosed that Nyong, who was a lecturer in the Department of Geography and Planning in the institution between 1987 and 2002, is the Director, Climate Change and Green Growth, African Development Bank (AfDB), Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire.

Vice Chancellor of UNIJOS, Prof. Tanko Ishaya, who announced the appointment when he played host to the don at the Administrative Building, Naraguta Campus of the university, said the appointment was in recognition of Nyong’s track record and contribution to his profession and climate change awareness within and outside Nigeria.

Ishaya described the visit as the beginning of more partnerships and collaborations with international scholars.

Meanwhile, Prof. Daniel Dabi of the Department of Geography and Planning, Faculty of Environmental Sciences, has been appointed the pioneer Director of Anthony Nyong Climate Change Centre of Excellence, UNIJOS.
