UNILAG alumni to launch N2b endowment fund, honour distinguished members

The group will also confer on its distinguished members various categories of awards for their immense contributions to the development of the university and the nation.

National President of the association, Olor’ogun Sonny Kuku, while briefing newsmen on lined up activities for the celebration said the association has decided to celebrate the day by giving awards to those who have contributed so much for the development of the society, adding that the university has produced about 200,000 graduates that hold key positions various sectors of the economy.

Kuku, represented by the National Vice President of the association and former Managing Director, Guinness Plc, Otunba Seni Adetu, said aside the conferment of 10 high profile individual awards; one special category award and three awards for groups, the N2b endowment fund for 500 bed-space hostel project will be more attractive to postgraduate students and will be offered on the basis of first come, first serve.

Dignitaries expected at the event, scheduled to holdon Friday, October 13, 2017, at the Oriental Hotel, Lagos, include Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, and Lagos state governor Akinwunmi Ambode. Pro-Chancellor, Prof. Wale Babalakin, will chair the high-profile event.

He said UNILAG as a university of first choice, has churned out some of the best sitting and past governors, senators, ministers, captains of industries, among other prominent Nigerians.
