UPUA medical outreach for Urhobo Day on December 1

Urhobo Progress Union, America (UPUA) will be conducting free medicals on December 1, 2018 at Uvwiamuge-Agbarho at 8am, as part of activities marking the 2018 Urhobo Day celebration.

According to a statement signed by the secretary-general, Dr. Felix Okpe, the celebration is billed for November 29 through December 2, 2018.

Open to the public, the medical outreach will cover diabetes, hypertension and vision, which have become common in Urhoboland in recent times.

The programme, which includes counselling, is designed as an intervention and proactive exercise against the above medical challenges.

UPUA is also using the Urhobo Day celebration to create awareness on the dangers of these medical conditions.

It, therefore, called on all adult Urhobo sons and daughters to take advantage of this opportunity to get screened and counselled on these medical issues.

UPUA, an affiliate of Urhobo Progress Union (UPU), is a North America-based non-profit umbrella organisation of Urhobo sons and daughters, and others who identify with the Urhobo culture and tradition by marriage and association.

Its membership is spread across the United States and Canada. Part of UPUA’s objective and mission premised on unity, strength and progress, include pursuing charitable causes in health care, education, and human capital development in Urhoboland.
