In a notable recognition of emerging talent in Nigeria’s financial sector, Oyindamola Omonubi has been conferred the Fellowship of the Chartered Institute of Finance and Control of Nigeria (CIFON).
The honour was bestowed during the Institute’s Annual General Meeting and Investiture Ceremony held in Abuja, where finance professionals, academics, and policymakers gathered to celebrate ethical leadership and professional excellence in the field of finance and control.
Though still in the early stages of her professional journey, Omonubi has demonstrated a strong commitment to financial integrity and strategic thinking. Her academic background, which includes an MSc in Management from Robert Gordon University in the United Kingdom and a BSc in Accounting from Redeemer’s University in Nigeria, has laid the foundation for what CIFON describes as “a promising career built on discipline, intellect, and purposeful ambition.”
In her remarks, Omonubi described the fellowship as “a humbling encouragement for young professionals who are passionate about building institutions of transparency, innovation, and impact.”
“This recognition is not only a personal milestone,” she said, “but a reminder that the work of finance goes beyond numbers. It is about building trust, enabling growth, and shaping resilient systems.”
At the time of her investiture, Omonubi was working with KPMG, one of the world’s leading professional services firms. Her contributions to financial operations and business processes, even at an early career stage, have earned her commendation for analytical rigour and a growing leadership voice among her peers.
President of CIFON Dr. Anthony Oladele praised Omonubi for exemplifying the values of the institute, noting that “her early career trajectory reflects a rare combination of academic distinction, technical capability, and ethical clarity.”
“She represents a new generation of finance professionals who are prepared to take on the challenges of tomorrow’s economy with integrity and insight,” he added.
Omonubi, who also holds professional certifications in financial control and management consulting, expressed her intention to use the platform of the Fellowship to mentor aspiring accountants and advocate for stronger compliance frameworks, particularly in emerging economies.
“This fellowship calls me to greater responsibility to support the next generation uphold accountability and contribute meaningfully to financial governance in Nigeria and across Africa,” she said.
