Uzodimma decries loss of lives in Imo oil pipeline explosion
Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodimma, yesterday, decried the illegal activities of oil pipeline vandals, which led to the loss of five lives in a fire explosion.
Bemoaning the incident, which took place last week at the Obitti Rubber Estate, Ohaji/Egbema Local Council of the state, the governor said the explosion resulted from the breaching of an oil pipeline at a “right of way.”
He noted that five suspected vandals were burnt beyond recognition during the inferno.
Uzodimma, in a statement by his Chief Press Secretary and Media Adviser, Oguwuike Nwachuku, condemned frequent pipeline vandalisation and economic sabotage in the area, leading to loss of lives.
He directed security operatives to fish out the perpetrators and make them face the wrath of the law.
While commiserating with the families of the deceased, the governor said the priority of his administration remains the protection of life and property, and welfare of the people.
