Uzodimma directs contractor to resume work on four roads

Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodimma, has directed contractors to immediately resume work on four critical road projects in the state.

The directive was contained in a statement issued yesterday by Uzodimma’s Special Adviser on Public Enlightenment, Eze Ugochukwu.

The roads had been in a state of disrepair for years, leading to an outpouring of cries from road users and residents.

“The projects include the 7.4 km Assumpta-Umuguma Road, Hospital Road, and Chosen-Dreamland Road, which totals 6km,” Ugochukwu said.

“Assumpta-Umuguma Road, a 7.4km road that will improve connectivity and access to key areas; Hospital Road and Chosen-Dreamland Road, 6km road project that will enhance transportation infrastructure and facilitate economic activity; and Naze-Nekede-Ihiagwa Road, leading to both the Federal University of Technology, Owerri (FUTO), and the Federal Polytechnic, Nekede, near Owerri.

“The governor directed the contractor to resume construction work immediately, including the span bridge.

“The approval of these road reconstruction projects demonstrates Governor Uzodimma’s commitment to improving the state’s infrastructure and providing essential services to its citizens.”

The governor awarded the contract for the reconstruction of 34.1 kilometers of Owerri-Elele Road to Craneburg Construction Company last week.
