Gunmen suspected to be kidnappers, yesterday, abducted a village head and his wife in Ibadan, Oyo State.
It was gathered that the gunmen stormed Araromi village in the Bakatari area of Ibadan and took the Baale of Araromi village, Chief Tafa Apanpa and his wife away on Tuesday night.

Bakatari is one of the towns in Ido Local Government Area and located along the Ibadan-Abeokuta Road. It is a border town between Oyo and Ogun states.

A resident said the abduction of the village head and his wife occurred when it was raining on Tuesday night.

A resident of the area who pleaded not to be named said: “It is true. The Baale has been kidnapped.”
The state’s Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Adewale Osifeso, confirmed the incident.

Meanwhile three persons were yesterday crushed to death by a truck at the Total Garden area of Ibadan.

Some residents told journalists that the victims were on the same motorcycle and that the motorcyclist was trying to overtake the truck when the accident happened.

An eyewitness, simply identified as Yinka, said the accident was not the fault of the motorcyclist. The accident led to tension in the area as some youths and motorcyclists made an attempt to set the truck ablaze.

Confirming the incident, the Oyo State Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Uche Chukwura, said: “Three persons died and two were injured in the accident. Our men were there.”

Chukwura, therefore, called on motorists to always drive with caution.
