Vice President Kashim Shettima has called on the people of Kogi State to vote massively for the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Usman Ododo, to propel the state to another level of infrastructure and human capital development.

Shettima made the call, yesterday, during the Kogi APC governorship campaign flag-off at the Muhammadu Buhari Square in Lokoja.

For the purpose of continuity and consolidation, it has become imperative for the people of Kogi to align with the government at the centre by voting for the APC candidate in the November 11, 2023 governorship election, Shettima said.

The VP further added: “For the people of Kogi to benefit immensely from the eight-point agenda of President Bola Tinubu and the natural resources that abound in the state, it is essential for them to vote for a younger and more patriotic person, who knows much about the state .

“The President is a man of courage and conviction. He is a man pregnant with ideas on how to reposition the country and Kogi, one of the frontier states in the North, which cannot afford to have a state government that does not belong to the centre.”

According to him, the President has approved funds for the construction of Ganaja road, adding that Abuja/Lokoja/Okene and Kabba/Ilorin are also going to receive Federal Government’s attention to ease movement of people and goods.

“Most importantly to the people of Kogi is the Ajaokuta Steel Company (ASC), which is the largest steel company in Nigeria. The President appointed a son of Kogi from a prominent family, Shuaibu Abubakar-Audu, to be the Minister of Steel Development,” he pointed out.

In his welcome address, Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello, thanked Tinubu for providing support that enabled him to reposition the state to the present status.

While presenting the party’s flag to the APC candidate, the party’s National Chairman, Umar Ganduje, said Bello had been able to transform Kogi in many ways, including the ability to present a successful candidate that will succeed him.

On his part, Usman said: “We are coming to consolidate and improve on the achievements of Bello, and I have no reason not to deliver. I am not going to disappoint Bello, Kogi people, Nigerians at large and myself.

“I accept the mandate to be the Governor of Kogi for the greatness and development of our dear state.”
