As the 2023 general elections draw closer, the Head of Umuokonogwu quarters, Ibusa, near Asaba, Delta State, Onowu Mathias Onukuwutelu Asiodu, has urged Nigerians, irrespective of their social status, to vote wisely for the emergence of credible, resourceful and God-fearing candidates in any of their chosen political parties that would revamp the economy and the badly battered image of the country.

Asiodu, who spoke with journalists, yesterday, while celebrating his 90th birthday, lamented that Nigeria, blessed with human and mineral resources, has been grounded by the political class, to the extent that nothing works.

He said; “Well, I can not tell anyone to vote party A or B, but I know everyone has a conscience. If so, then vote your conscience for a candidate, and not the party, for the betterment of the country.

“I know too that every candidate has rolled out his manifestoes for the sake of the election, but it is now left for us to peruse them carefully and vote accordingly to bring us out of the mess we are going through today.”

He also advised the youth to shun the get-rich-quick syndrome, cultism and other social vices, saying that they lead to untimely death.
