Speaking yesterday in Yola during the commissioning of 12 waterproof tent-classrooms in the Education Must Continue (EMC) IDP school located in Sangere, Gerei local government, the executive Director of VSF, Sunday Ochoche, said that his organization has spent over N1.5billion Naira to enable victims of insurgency return to school.
He said they have completed the reconstruction of 24 schools and six selected schools have been earmarked for reconstruction in Borno, Yobe and Adamawa states for the second stage of the scheme.
He pointed out that 12 waterproof tent-classrooms were also constructed in Lassa town in Askira Uba local government in Borno state and equipped with furniture and textbooks.
Ochoche added that VSF would start paying monthly stipends to teachers that have volunteered to work in the school without salary.
He urged non-governmental organization (NGOs) to take up the challenge to participate in helping the victims not only to return home, but also to get back on their feet.
