The Imo State Police has said the Command is investigating the source and authenticity of the viral video showing the beheading of the sole administrator of Ideato North local council, Chris Ahizu by gunmen.

Video of Ahizu’s beheading surfaced online, on Sunday and trended yesterday, where his killers insisted that there will be no election in the country.

In the video, the abductors of the council boss expressed grievances over the situation in the country, blaming politicians. They said they were neither the Independent Peoples of Biafra (IPOB), nor Eastern Security Network (ESN).

It was reported that killers of the sole administrator published videos of the act with the phone of the victim on his WhatsApp status. Ohizu, was abducted with two others some days ago, after he was shot, and his ancestral home in Imoko, Arondizuogu, Ideato North local council, was set ablaze.

Reacting in a phone interview with The Guardian, on Monday, the new Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Henry Okoye, said the police saw it the same way others watched it. He assured that the Command will carry out detailed investigation on the video. Okoye, said a press statement will be made public on it.

When asked to comment on the authenticity, he said: “It is a viral video like you saw it, but we are investigating it.”
