‘We beefed up security to stop Shiites’ invasion of National Assembly’
The Guards Brigade of the Nigeria Army has said it beefed up security around the Three-arms zone on Wednesday and Thursday to forestall Shiites Islamic Sect’s planned invasion of the National Assembly.
It said the move followed intelligence reports, which indicated that the sect actually planned to take over the legislative chambers.
Assistant Director, Army Public Relations, Haruna Tagwai, in a statement disclosed that although the deployment was routine, troops were deployed to forestall any breach of peace and security. He also said reports that soldiers were trying to take over the National Assembly is false and misleading.
