We have utilised capital releases to state house, presidency
The Presidency has insisted that it has “judiciously utilised” this year’s capital releases to the State House. According to the Presidency, N2.1billion out of N3.3billion, representing 61.2 per cent of the amount released for the year, has been utilised, while the balance would be disbursed to the contractors as soon as they complete their jobs.
Speaking yesterday when members of the House Committee on Special Projects visited the State House as part of their oversight functions, Permanent Secretary, State House, Jalal Arabi, said he was hopeful of additional releases before the end of the year “to enable us pay contractors that have executed jobs awarded to them or to commence work on critical projects yet to be started.”
Arabi, in a statement signed by Abiodun Oladunjoye, a Deputy Director of Information, also expressed appreciation to the committee for its support towards improving service delivery in the State House.
The acting Chairman of the Committee, Ayodeji Joseph, commended Arabi for the utilisation of the releases to the State House so far. He, however, charged the permanent secretary to furnish the committee with the specifications of the security vehicles needed for use in the State House to enable it defend the appropriations in their constituencies.
