Teachers in Edo State, yesterday, declared that they were not surprised at Governor Godwin Obaseki’s reelection in the September 19, 2020 governorship poll.
In a statement issued by state Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT), Pius O. Okhueleigbe and Assistant Secretary General, Mike Modesty Itua, they maintained that Obaseki’s reelection stemmed from his administration’s massive infrastructural, human capital and economic developments.
“On behalf of the State Wing Executive Council (SWEC) and the public primary and secondary school teachers in Edo State, we congratulate you on your re-election victory.
“Your victory did not come as a surprise to us because it was diligently worked for and earned through the massive infrastructural, human capital and economic development of your administration, which are visible throughout the state,” the statement reads.
BESIDES, Obaseki dissolved the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Campaign Council for the governorship election, commending its members for their dedication to duty, which he said, accounted for his electoral victory.
The governor, who announced the dissolution at a meeting with members of the campaign council at Government House, Benin City, thanked them for a job well done and described them as miracle workers.
MEANWHILE, Edo State Correspondents Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) has congratulated Governor Obaseki on his reelection.
In a congratulatory message endorsed by its Chairman and Secretary, Mrs. Nefishetu Yakubu and Osaigbovo Iguobaro, the Chapel described the election as peaceful, saying the governor’s victory affirmed his outstanding services to the people in agriculture, infrastructure development, jobs creation and education reforms through the EdoBEST programme.
