Kebbi State Governor, Senator Abubakar Atiku Bagudu, has given reasons why the state is always grateful to President Muhammadu Buhari and the state’s ability to uplift education for youths in the state.
He said: “Kebbi State sees education as a major driver for socio-economic progress. It is that consideration that propelled the state chapter of All Progressives Congress (APC) to nominate the President of Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT), Dr. Nasir Idris, Kauran Gwandu, as its gubernatorial candidate.”
This is just as the APC National Organising Secretary (NOS), Dr. Sulaiman Muhammad Argungu, Jarman Kabi, tasked members of various Labour unions to elect the party’s candidates, from Asiwaju Bola Tinubu to candidates for the state legislature.
Bagudu, who is also the APC candidate for Kebbi Central Senatorial District, disclosed that President Buhari has been honouring the state with qualitative appointments of its sons and daughters.

He stated that the commission has also been providing succour to farmers and fishermen, even as he appreciated HYPPADEC for providing necessary facilities, equipment and empowerment to teeming youth, throughout its catchment areas.
While expressing confidence that the commission would further perform optimally, Bagudu, who spoke during the opening ceremony of a stakeholders’ forum on proposed HYPPADEC medium term strategic plan 2022-2027, commended the management’s foresight and focus since its take-off.
He urged the commission to ensure that fishing and farming communities were fully co-opted into the strategic plan considering the impact of global climate change for modern and technologically driven project.
Earlier, the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Alhaji Babale Umar Yauri, enumerated some of the laudable projects that HAPPADEC has so for executed in the state, including medical outreach, water supply, educational development, youth empowerment, fishing items and other basic necessities.
Responding, Chairman of HYPPADEC, Mr Joseph Terfa Ityav, disclosed that his commission was in the state to engage stakeholders in its future plan towards meeting the yearning and aspiration of communities.
Bagudu justified the election of the NUT chairman as APC gubernatorial standard bearer, when the National President of Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Comrade Ayuba Wabba led members of Trade Unions across the country in a grand solidarity rally in Birnin Kebbi.
The solidarity rally, which was to express support for one of their members, Dr. Nasir Idris, attracted many dignitaries including Governor Bagudu, who trekked long distance from Haliru Abdu Stadium through Bello Way to Emir’s Palace road and back to the stadium.
Addressing the large crowd of NLC members and other supporters, Comrade Wabba enjoined all labour unions in the state to endorse their colleague in the 2023 governorship polls.
He explained that such support was imperative to the candidature of a unionist to become governor and build upon the developmental successes of incumbent governor, Senator Abubakar Atiku Bagudu.
The highly elated Governor Bagudu expressed his gratitude to the NLC leadership for converging on Kebbi State to support Dr. Nasir Idris, saying the support was a demonstration of solidarity and consolidation of what he has done at state and national levels, especially for teachers and workers in the country.
He remarked that Kebbi State APC recognised Dr. Idris’ leadership qualities, even as he urged Kebbi electorate to elect the NUT President as his successor as Chief Executive of Kebbi state.
