A yet-to-be-identified woman has reportedly bathed her husband with acid over his refusal to remit N15,000 shared to her and the children from the host community dividends.

The incident occurred at Agbonchia Community in Eleme Local Council of the state.
The Guardian gathered that the woman, who is a mother of two girls, poured acid on the face of her husband and took away his Automated Teller Machine (ATM) card.

The woman, who hails from Akwa Ibom, and married to a native of the Agbonchia community, hid inside the ceiling after committing the crime to evade arrest and possible lynching.

She was, however, intercepted by the security council, headed by Commodore Abel Oluka, and youths of the Agbonchia community, on her way to escape from the vicinity.

A source said the matter has been reported to the Eleme police station for further investigation, while the victim is going through medical attention.

When contacted, spokesperson for Rivers Police Command, Grace Iringe-Koko, promised to react, but was yet to do so at press time.
