Wike crossed red line by revoking PDP land — Bode George

Chief Bode George

Chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Bode George, has accused the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, of crossing the red line by revoking the party’s national secretariat land in Abuja.

During an interview on Arise Television on Friday, George described Wike’s action as an open declaration of war against the PDP and questioned his continued membership in the party.

“I’m saying he has crossed the red line. Once you cross the red line, what are you looking for? So what is he still doing there then?” George said.

He expressed disbelief at Wike’s decision, likening it to taking over one’s “father’s house” and questioning Wike’s loyalty to the PDP. George stressed that the party leaders must urgently convene to address the situation.

“The party has to meet. We have to meet the leaders and the members of the board of trustees. We own the party in trust for the members of the party,” he said.

He described Wike’s move as a direct affront to the party and warned that PDP leaders would be acting irresponsibly if they failed to take action.

George also criticised the PDP’s National Disciplinary Committee, led by Chief Tom Ikimi, accusing it of bias in favour of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar. He noted the committee’s flawed structure and explained his refusal to serve on it.

The controversy stems from the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) revoking the land allocated to the PDP for its national secretariat due to unpaid ground rents spanning 20 years. The revocation was conveyed in a letter dated March 13, 2025, signed by the Director of Land Administration (FCTA), Chijioke Nwankwoeze.

According to the FCTA, the PDP had failed to pay the required annual ground rents for the property from January 1, 2006, to January 1, 2025, despite repeated notifications through national dailies and electronic media.

George maintained that the revocation was a deliberate attempt by Wike to undermine the PDP and declared that the party must take decisive steps to address the situation.
