Wike, Dickson task Nigerians on religious tolerance, peace, others

Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, yesterday asked Nigerians to use the Eid-el-Kabir celebrations to embrace religious tolerance, which will promote peace in the country and enhance national development.

Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, yesterday asked Nigerians to use the Eid-el-Kabir celebrations to embrace religious tolerance, which will promote peace in the country and enhance national development.

In his Sallah message, he said Eid-el-Kabir should be a season of love, peace, togetherness and sacrifice and prayed God to use the Sallah period to impact positively on the lives of Nigerians.He assured of the state government’s commitment to work with security agencies to ensure that all citizens celebrate the Sallah in peace and harmony.

Wike congratulated the Muslim community in Rivers State on the Sallah celebration, assuring that his administration will continue to partner with them to move the state forward.He also thanked the Muslim community in the state for the consistent support they have always extended to his administration.

Meanwhile, Bayelsa State Governor, Seriake Dickson, has urged Muslims to love one another and pray for the peace and unity of the country.In a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Francis Agbo, he also admonished the Islamic faithful to take advantage of the celebrations to propagate brotherly love among Nigerians of all religious inclinations.

The governor, who lamented that the country is more divided along religious, ethnic and partisan lines than ever before, enjoined all Nigerians to jettison hate speeches that tend to threaten the love, unity and peaceful co-existence that held them together over the years.While commending Muslims for supporting his government, Dickson assured that government will continue to promote peaceful coexistence among adherents of different religions in the state.
