With transparency, Tinubu’s policies will reduce hardship, says NURTW president

Tajudeen Baruwa

President of National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), Tajudeen Baruwa, has said if President Bola Tinubu’s administration transparently implements its programmes and policies as already outlined, it will definitely reduce hardship in the country.

He gave the assurance after he was sworn in alongside other executive members of the union during their 10th National Quadrennial Delegate Conference, yesterday, in Lafia, Nasarawa State.
Baruwa also revealed the union’s readiness to support the administration towards actualising its economic policies and programmes for the next four years.

According to the NURTW boss, who was sworn in for another term, his members would be working closely with the President through the transportation sector to better the country’s economy and address Nigerians’ concerns.

Baruwa noted that the union would be ensuring safe commuting of people and their goods to their desired destination without subjecting them to any delay, to assist the Federal Government in its economic recovery plan.

According to him, the conference in-session, after critically assessing Tinubu’s less than three months administration, expressed satisfaction with the steps taken so far towards revamping the economy.

“Due to this, we express total support to his administration’s policies and programmes with the belief that, if transparently implemented, it will definitely reduce the hardship being encountered by the masses,” he added.

He commended Governor Abdullahi of Nasarawa for his labour-friendliness, particularly the NURTW, which the administration aided with the provision of a conducive atmosphere to operate without hitches.

The NURTW president promised that the union would continue to strengthen cooperation with the Nigerian Police Force (NPF), especially the Inspector General of Police (IGP), to ensure law and order across parks and garages in the country.

Aside from the police, he disclosed that other stakeholders would also be consulted to improve the country’s transportation sector.
