• Missing document stalls ex-naval chief’s trial
Alade Sunday, the first prosecution witness in the ongoing trial of Biodun Agbele, an aide to Ekiti State’s Governor Fayose, yesterday, indicted the former Minister of State for Defence, Musiliu Obanikoro.

Alade, who was cross-examined at the Federal High Court, Abuja Division, by the defense counsel, Mike Ozekhome, told Justice Nnamdi Dimgba that Obanikoro gave him the sum of N1.2 billion at Akure Airport.

Meanwhile, the trial of a former Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Usman Jibrin, before Justice A.S Umar of the of the High Court in Maitama, Abuja, suffered setback yesterday following a missing document vital in the proof of evidence.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) had arraigned Jibrin alongside two others on a four-count charge of criminal conspiracy.

Alade had earlier testified to the court that his zonal manager, Abiodun Osodi, informed him that a customer was bringing some money. But asked to read from his witness statement where he said one Lawrence Akande had informed him, he became agitated, sprang to his feet and insisted on making further clarification in line with his earlier position.

The PW1 who said he never met the defendant before the June 17, 2014 transaction insisted he didn’t discuss anything pertaining to money or hold any meeting with him.

He said he was not worried when he was told that a customer he had never met before was bringing raw cash in two aircraft via Akure Airport. According to him, he became concerned only after the second aircraft arrived.
