The mother of four was diagnosed with kidney disease that has rendered her inactive since February 2023.Her husband and staff of the National Productivity Centre, Headquarters, Abuja, Dr. Godwin Anyam, said the treatment for the kidney failure has cost the family all their life savings.
He appealed to kind-hearted Nigerians to support the family financially to save her from the clutches of death.
“The sickness started in February 2023. When she was diagnosed it was discovered that the two kidneys were malfunctioning. Presently, she has been placed on dialysis twice a week.
“The treatment is expensive, it has drained the family finances, such that feeding of family and payment of children’s school fees has become difficult. She has been attending Federal Medical Centre, Makurdi, and NISA Premier Hospital, Abuja.
“We are supposed to be doing dialysis twice a week, but because of huge financial involvement we could only do it once a week now.” Also, Consultant Nephrology, NISA Hospital Abuja, Dr. Ogoche Sunday Musa, confirmed Anyam’s case, stressing that the permanent solution to the kidney disease, was transplant, which will cost N11 million.
He said: “She is currently scheduled for a twice weekly Haemodialysis session. The patient would significantly benefit from a kidney transplant as a more definitive approach to her management. Kindly offer this patient whatever assistance she may require.
“She needs N11 million to do the transplant, depending on some other factors. She either continues with the dialysis at the rate of N120, 000 to N130, 000 per week. In six months to one year, the money they would have used for the transplant would have been exhausted.
“Assistance could be extended to the family through Account number: Joyce Ngunan Anyam, Guaranty Trust Bank (GTB) 0153711012, and Telephone numbers 07069046463 and 08134701722.
