‘Women in politics will grow GDP by 23%’
The Ambassador of Sweden to Nigeria, Carl-Michael Grans, has asserted that Nigeria’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) will grow by 23 per cent if women participate fully in running the economy.
Quoting a study carried out by a renowned research firm, McKenzie, she said the country’s GDP would grow that much by 2025 if women become very active in economic activities.
Speaking at an event organised by Plan International Nigeria to mark the International Girl Child Day, he noted that Sweden understood the significance of women in nation building, hence it introduced a foreign feminist policy to promote the rights, resources, representation, and realities of the gender.
