The Deputy Governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), John Yakubu has alleged that Governor Adams Oshiomhole was plotting to undermine Esan people in the state’s politics.

At an interactive session organised by a socio-cultural and non-political organisation in Benin City, the Ikolo Esan Organisation, Yakubu urged the people to unite and resist their humiliation at the hands of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

He said several projects, including those of Ibore and Okhuenlen allocated to Edo Central Senatorial district were not given priority attention during Oshiomhole’s tenure.

The chairman of the organisation, Prof. Gabriel Ebosele Oteze, explained that it was seeking to harness the various socio-cultural groups in Esanland to be able to speak with one voice.

The deputy governorship candidate said the only way to put a stop to the marginalisation, is for Esan people to come out on September 10 and vote en masse for the PDP.

He assured his kinsmen at the well-attended event that the PDP’s candidate, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu would not disappoint them if voted to power.

Yakubu added that they have clear-cut electioneering promises to fulfill under the SIMPLE agenda of the PDP.

The Chairman of the occasion, former Vice-Chancellor of the University of Benin, Prof. Abhulimen Richard Anao, restated the need for the Esan people to be carried along in the scheme of things.
