Yoruba group urges Nigerians to support Tinubu’s reforms

A Yoruba group, the Oduduwa Development Initiative (ODI), has called on Nigerians to rally behind President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, describing it as a strategic blueprint capable of transforming the nation’s economic and social landscape.

The group gave the charge in a statement yesterday, after its extended executive meeting held on Saturday, September 13, 2025, in Ibadan. ODI President, Akinyele Olasumbo, who spoke on behalf of the group, said: “The Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is designed to move Nigeria from its current challenges to where it ought to be in the years ahead. It is intended to change the way we think, conduct and see ourselves as a people with common dreams, aspirations and destiny.”

The group commended some prominent public officials for their contributions to governance in line with the President’s agenda.

Those recognised were Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), Kemi Nanna Nandap; Commandant-General of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Dr Ahmed Abubakar Audi; Chairman and Chief Executive of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Brig.-Gen. Buba Marwa (rtd), and Registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), Prof. Is-haq Oloyede.

Olasumbo said Nandap had “done a lot in repositioning the (NIS) through her commitment and sacrifices towards rebranding the Service for improved delivery.

“Her interventions and policies, according to her, had also improved revenue generation and eased the processing of international passports.”

The ODI President also praised Audi for strengthening grassroots security, noting that “his leadership has enhanced collaboration with sister agencies and traditional leaders, while leading decisive efforts to combat illegal mining and oil bunkering.”

His reforms, he said, had also improved infrastructure and professional training within the NSCDC. On the NDLEA, Olasumbo described Marwa’s leadership as transformative, saying: “In just four and a half years, the NDLEA has arrested over 48,157 suspects, destroyed 1,057 hectares of cannabis farms, prosecuted and convicted 9,034 offenders, and seized more than 7,561 tonnes of illicit drugs. His reforms have awakened the agency and made it globally respected.”

The group further hailed the JAMB Registrar, Oloyede, for his reforms in the examination body.

“His leadership has made JAMB one of the most credible examination institutions in the country and significantly boosted government revenue. This is one man Nigerians should celebrate,” ODI added.
