You can’t develop without investment, Obasanjo says

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has called for greater collaboration and partnership investment in developing the nation through spending on local content. He also tasked the political leadership with redirecting the investment proceeds to the people.

Speaking at the two-day Bauchi Investment Summit yesterday, the ex-President observed that investment discussions must bring everyone together to chart a prosperous path to development.

According to Obasanjo, there are three key development indicators –politics, people and protection.

“If we get the politics (governance) right, the next thing is people, because everything we do in governance is about the people. Everything should be for the benefit of the people. Another major thing is protection; you need stability and security because nobody wants to invest,” he said.

Vice President Kashim Shettima, representing President Bola Tinubu, stated that the Federal Government is creating an enabling environment for investors to thrive and drive investment in the country.
