The Forum of National Youth Leaders of Political Parties in Nigeria (FNYLPPN) has called for the convocation of the proposed National Youth Conference to address youth unemployment and the high cost of food items in the country.

The newly elected chairman of the forum, Hon. Chinazam Ike, in an inaugural speech, noted that youths are getting disenchanted with the government over the delay in convening the confab that will avail them the opportunity to discuss these issues.

Ike explained that the issues include the non-inclusion of youth in governance, the non-implementation of palliatives to cushion the harsh reality of the fuel subsidy removal in the petroleum sector in Nigeria, as well as the non-implementation of the electronic voter collation of election results by INEC.

Ike, who is of the opposition Action Democratic Party (ADP), also cited insecurity caused by insurgents, unknown gunmen, banditry, kidnapping, and “yahoo boys” activities in Nigeria. He also mentioned the clamour for local government reform, the return of the Nigerian political system to parliamentary and regional government structures ahead of 2027, and tax reforms for regional economic growth and development as among the issues they would bare their minds on.

The Forum urged President Bola Tinubu’s administration to stay focused on its reforms to get Nigeria out of the woods.

In the election of the forum held on Friday, 6th December, Hon. Muhammed Kabir of the BOOT party emerged as the new Forum Vice Chairman, Comrade Wolimoh Olajide, the National Youth Leader of PRP, was re-elected as Secretary of the Forum, while Comrade Eragbe Anslem Aphimia, the National Youth Leader of the Labour Party (LP), was re-elected as the National Publicity Secretary of the forum.

Other officials of the Forum include Comrade Eragbe Anslem, Labour Party National Youth Leader/Publicity Secretary, Comrade Nixon ICON, ADC National Youth Leader, Hon. Bonaventure Akabude, Action Alliance National Youth Leader, Hon. Muhammed Kabir, BOOT National Youth Leader, and Comrade Wolimoh Olajide, PRP National Youth Leader.
