The Borgu Youths Development Association in Borgu Local Council of Niger State has lauded the National Hydroelectric Power Producing Area Development Commission (N-HYPPADEC) for the rehabilitation and expansion of the water scheme, saying the lack of access to safe drinking water by the people of New Bussa as a result of decay in the infrastructure built over 40 years ago had caused devastating impact on health, hygiene and wellbeing of the residents

The youth association in a statement yesterday noted that since the collapsed of the water scheme, residents had resulted to buying water from wheelbarrow pushers for consumption and domestic uses.

The youths explained that the revival of the water scheme has renewed the hope of the people on the President Bola Tinubu administration.

The group equally commended the Niger State Government for its collaborative efforts with the N-HYPPADEC management towards ensuring the total overhauling of the water scheme.

It also appreciated the Managing Director and Chief Executive, as well as the management team of the commission for their commitment and untiring efforts towards the rehabilitation of the water scheme.

They assured that the people will take the ownership of the project by protecting it from vandalisation.
