Yusuf visits vandalised Kano High Court, says sensitive documents on Ganduje stolen

•Aide dismisses APC’s allegation of palliative diversion

Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has paid an on-the-spot assessment visit to the Kano State High Court, vandalised by thugs during the recent nationwide hunger protests.

He was conducted around the court premises by the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Haruna Isah Dederi; Chief Registrar of the High Court, Abdullahi Ado Bayero, and other judges.

The information was contained in a statement yesterday by the governor’s spokesperson, Sanusi Bature Dawakin Tofa. He described the vandalism as a “master-minded and stage-managed mission in which the hired miscreants carted away corruption charges’ documents on former governor of Kano State, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, who has been facing multiple charges before the state High Court.”

The statement added: “It is very unfortunate that enemies of Kano State hired undesirable elements to vandalise one of the historic public buildings, with a mission of averting corruption charges against the National Chairman of APC and former governor of the state, Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, his family and aides.”

Yusuf urged youths to desist from being used by detractors to engage in violence, rather they should concentrate on skills acquisition for a better future, emphasising that the government would not relent in securing life and property in the state.

He commiserated with the Chief Judge, Dije Abdu Aboki and the entire judiciary family over the ugly incident, urging them to brace up to cover what was lost for the benefit of the common man.

MEANWHILE, the Chief of Staff to the Governor, Shehu Wada Sagagi, has described the diversion of palliatives accusation levelled against him by the state APC Chairman Abdullahi Abbas, as baseless, misleading, and politically motivated.

In a statement in Kano, Sagagi stated that the antic deployed by the opposition party in the state was a “desperate attempt to tarnish his image in the eyes of right-thinking Nigerians.” ­­­­and a calculated attempt to discredit the NNPP government’s efforts in supporting the people of Kano State.”

According to him, the APC’s claims of palliative diversion and rebranding were unfounded. They lacked concrete evidence, noting that such “frivolous rantings are mere allegations designed to score cheap political stunt.”

The top Kano-born politician reiterated: “Let it be on record that my office has never been involved in palliatives distribution, and no one has ever allocated the palliatives to me for onward distribution to state, local governments or ward level.

“The NNPP government has been transparent in its distribution of palliatives to the masses, with clear records of beneficiaries and distribution channels, therefore there is no truth to the APC’s claims of diversion or rebranding.” Sagagi clarified.
