Zamfara governor receives prestigious title at Eid Sallah Durbar
Zamfara State Governor, Dauda Lawal, was turbaned as Wakilin Kauran Namoda, meaning the representative of the emirate’s founder, during the annual Eid Sallah Durbar at the Kauran Namoda Local Government Area.
The Hawan Durbar, a colourful event showcasing the rich cultural heritage of the region, marks the Eid celebrations in Kauran Namoda.
This year’s Durbar held special significance as it was the first time a sitting governor attended the ceremony. Governor Lawal, dressed in traditional attire, participated in the durbar riding a decorated horse.
The Emir of Kauran Namoda, Dr. Sanusi Muhammad Ahmad Asha, bestowed the title of Wakilin Kaura on Governor Lawal in appreciation of his attendance.
Governor Lawal’s visit also included commissioning the Modomawa city gate, an ancient gate of Kauran Namoda dating back to 1807-1810.
He also pledged support to revive the moribund Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) sub-station in the local government.
