The Zion Prayer Movement Outreach (ZPMO) has dismissed as false a video circulating on YouTube alleging that its Spiritual Director, Evangelist Ebuka Obi, was attacked by gunmen during the commissioning of a free hospital in Aguleri, Anambra State.
In a statement issued in Lagos, Evangelist Obi’s Media Adviser, Dan Aibangbe, described the video as an “AI-generated fabrication” aimed at instilling fear among worshippers ahead of the ministry’s annual prayer crusade.
“Contrary to the fabricated claims, the commissioning ceremony in Aguleri was a resounding success, with no reported disturbances,” Aibangbe said. “The Evangelist and his entire entourage peacefully departed the venue around 4 p.m. and travelled safely to Owerri, Imo State, arriving without any incident. This is completely contrary to the 8 p.m. Anambra attack reported in the fake video.”
He added that the event, which was attended by government officials, dignitaries, and large numbers of worshippers, was secured by security teams who ensured there were no incidents. Aibangbe noted that the video undermined the “highly improved security environment that has resulted from the deliberate efforts of Governor Soludo.”
The adviser suggested the video may have been created to attract online traffic or to discourage attendance at the upcoming crusade. “It could be the handiwork of mischief-makers in a desperate attempt to sow fear and uncertainty among the faithful, particularly those travelling from the diaspora,” he said.
Aibangbe urged worshippers to disregard the video, assuring them of their safety at the crusade scheduled to hold in Ngor Okpala, Imo State. “Security arrangements in and around the theatre of the crusade are planned to be top-notch in safety, crowd control, as well as personal protection for all comers,” he said. “Enemies of the Church spreading falsehoods are already defeated and will be put to shame by the power of God.”
He further appealed to the public to verify information before sharing, remain vigilant, and report suspicious activity to the authorities. He confirmed that the video had been flagged for possible sanctions by YouTube.
