Borno State Governor, Babagana Zulum has commissioned N200m water projects to meet the need of residents in two communities of Maiduguri metropolis.

Borno State Governor, Babagana Zulum has commissioned N200m water projects to meet the need of residents in two communities of Maiduguri metropolis.

The two water projects were completed by Jack Rich Foundation to restore destroyed water facilities during decade-long Boko Haram insurgency in Maiduguri metropolis.

According to the governor, the donated water projects are to serve 500,000 households in Goni Damgari and Shehuri North communities.

He said the communities badly hit by the Boko Haram lacked potable water for industrial and domestic uses for over a decade.

Zulum said the provision of water for human and livestock consumption would remain a major priority of his administration.

He pledged to address water scarcity being experienced in different parts of the state.

Senator Ali Ndume, who represents Borno South Senatorial District and Amb. Babagana Kingibe who facilitated siting of the projects, commended the foundation for completing the water projects.

They called on individuals and other corporate organisations to support over 1.5 million vulnerable people traumatised in decade long insurgency.

The community leader of Goni Damgari, Zanna Masu said the completion of water project; will also prevent outbreaks of epidemics, like cholera and meningitis.
