SIR: This is a campaign for better governance – a better nation. I watched in consternation how the various political parties are promising jobs creation for the teeming youths. It prompts one to ask what happened to the promised industrialization in 2010? They successfully cajoled us in 2010 campaigns but our belief in the youthfulness of those in authority turned out a mortal error.

Wisdom, they say, comes with age. The state of the nation has been made worse by the cabal that is still working assiduously to perpetuate the ruling party.

It is time to salvage the nation from deception, come February 2015. Our country has the potential for greatness but it is not there yet. In this time and age it does not matter where natural resources are found, the true beneficiaries of natural resources are the well-informed, well-educated with superb organisational ability. These are nations proudly advancing civilisation while the rest of us, the extracted, are like experimental specimens (lab rats) or at best, mere spectators. Pilloried we shall remain until true leadership is enthroned.

It is crystal clear that the government, for the past six years, decidedly embarked on hazy job creation. The present crops of leaders have a bad record when it comes to the fulfillment of promises. To move forward, change of leadership is the ideal. Power must go to the progressives who have the capacity and the audacity to fight corruption. Corruption being the bane of development and must be tackled headlong. It is time Nigerians did away with mediocrity in government.

Entrepreneurs and investors are the real creators of jobs, while the government creates a level playing ground by way of infrastructure, education of the youths, electrification, road networks and security.

In six years, the PDP government has dismally led the country towards “Somalia” by all indicators of performance. The nation is dotted with moribund companies, potential employers of labour such as Ajaokuta Steel complex, the Refineries, Railways,  to mention a few.

The call for change is appropriate and at no better time but now for the advancement of our beloved country.
