Sir: For the past three months, residents of Laiyeode and Mopelufa communities in Ikorodu North Local Council Development Area (LCDA) have been languishing in perpetual darkness. Despite the upgrade of electricity supply in the area from B and C to Band B, residents hardly enjoy up to two hours of uninterrupted power supply. Recently, we have endured as long as two consecutive weeks without electricity.
This situation has brought untold hardship to residents of the communities. Many businesses have been forced to shut down, crime rate has increased, and the area is gradually becoming uninhabitable.
We, therefore, appeal to the Lagos State Consumer Protection Agency (LASCOPA) to call Ikeja Electric to order and compel the electricity distribution company to find a lasting solution to the incessant power outages affecting our communities.
Residents deserve reliable and uninterrupted electricity supply, and this prolonged neglect must be urgently addressed.
