SIR: Anyone in position of authority who is doing well deserves commendation not only in order to keep it up but also for others to learn from it and do likewise. Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos is someone with a kind heart and this is reflected in most of his actions especially as it relates to pensioners.
First, Sanwo-Olu is working relentlessly to ensure that workers get all their entitlements as soon as they retire without any waste of time. This is a clear departure from what obtained previously where retirees waited for years before they are able to access whatever was due to them which actually led to the death of many of them.
Now, the amiable governor has put another programme in place for retirees known as Ilera Eko through which retirees can now access free medical services in hospitals closer to them at least once in a month. What show of love can be greater than this? What a very compassionate individual Sanwo-Olu is.
Other governors ought to borrow a leaf from this and replicate it in all the states of the federation. Retirees who have put in their best to the service of their fatherland deserve whatever their country can do for them in retirement as a mark of appreciation for their services to the nation.
