The Gubernatorial candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Kano, Alh. Ibrahim Ali Amin (Little) has vowed to abolish the Kano State Pension Rights for the Governor and Deputy, if elected governor.

The ADC candidate made the promise while unveiling his running mate, Shehu Abdulkadir Bari, a 36-year-old man, at a press conference in Kano.

Little, as fondly called, argued that there is no justification for the enactment of the laws providing a series of entitlements for Ex-Governors, deputies, and other public office holders after service.

The opposition candidate insisted that after benefiting from huge allowances and opportunities during their years of service in office, the laws mandating life pension through public funds remain a liability upon the less privileged.

Little noted that hundreds of millions of naira are currently channeled into maintaining former political leaders at the expense of public infrastructure and basic service delivery.

He labeled the practice discriminatory against ordinary citizens and promised immediate legislative action to repeal the pension framework if elected.

Little, who outlined some of his blueprints if voted to power, promised to restore Kano State to its status as a major commercial hub.

Little revealed that his campaign is putting the final touches on a master blueprint designed to address Kano’s structural and economic challenges.

He said his major proposals in the political platform include establishing clusters of cottage industries across the state to turn Kano into a leading commercial nerve center in Africa, adding that the moribund factories and manufacturing will be resuscitated.

Little also disclosed plans to generate employment opportunities for the state’s expanding youth population and resolve the persistent water scarcity.

While introducing his running mate, the ADC candidate promised a youth-inclusive administration dedicated to economic revival, industrial growth, and fiscal discipline.

On the choice of his deputy candidate, Little stated that the decision underscores his firm commitment to bringing young, capable leaders into governance.

He emphasized that the selection was made strictly on merit—evaluating Bari’s educational background, work experience, and personal pedigree without the influence of political godfathers or prior personal relationships.

He said his running mate was chosen purely on his qualifications and character, adding that “I did not know him personally before this, nor was he recommended by any godfather. This approach stands as a clear departure from the selection process seen in other parties.”
