• Ex-lawmaker rallies Ondo South for President, party candidates
The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Delta Central Senatorial District, yesterday, closed ranks ahead of the 2027 general elections, with party leaders, stakeholders, and members unanimously endorsing President Bola Tinubu, Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, Senator Ede Dafinone and all other candidates of the party while calling for unity and intensified grassroots mobilisation.
The endorsement came during the Delta Central APC Stakeholders’ Strategic Meeting held at the Petroleum Training Institute (PTI) Conference Centre, Effurun.
Moving the motion for the endorsement, which was seconded by Halims Agoda, the party’s founding leader, O’tega Emerhor, commended Tinubu and Oborevwori for their policies and programmes, which he said are impacting Nigerians and Deltans positively.
The motion was subsequently put to a voice vote by the Delta State APC Chairman, Solomon Arenyeka, and was unanimously adopted.
Addressing the people, Arenyeka said the stakeholders’ meetings across the three senatorial districts were conceived after the State Working Committee reviewed party activities during its June 11 meeting and resolved that each senatorial district should convene meetings to strengthen the party ahead of the 2027 elections.
He described the Delta Central meeting as evidence that the strategy was yielding positive results, adding that the calibre of personalities present reflected unprecedented unity within the party and demonstrated that Delta Central had set the pace for the remaining senatorial districts.
Also, a former member of the House of Representatives and senatorial aspirant, Mayowa Akinfolarin, at the weekend, mobilised his political structures across Ondo South Senatorial District with the directive to ensure overwhelming victory for President Bola Tinubu as well as every candidate within the APC.
Akinfolarin, who had served as both a state and federal lawmaker, emphasised that the interest of the APC and the success of Tinubu’s emergence at the polls in 2027 outweigh every personal ambition.
The APC chieftain, who contested the ticket of the party for the senatorial district during the recent primaries of the party, stressed this while meeting with party leaders, women, youths, and grassroots coordinators across the six local councils of the senatorial district.
According to him, the gathering aimed to strengthen the APC’s electoral machinery ahead of 2027 and ensure the party presents a united front.
