… Says ‘AA’ ticket will reshape electoral fortunes

The candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) for the Ilaje/Ese-Odo federal constituency in 2027, Hon. Olugbenga Edema, has described the party’s presidential ticket pairing former Vice President Atiku Abubakar with former Rivers State Governor Rotimi Amaechi as a game changer.

According to Edema, the move, which he described as strategic, will in no small measure boost the ADC’s electoral prospects in the 2027 general elections.

Edema, a former member of the Ondo State House of Assembly and former chairman of the Ondo State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (OSOPADEC), stated this while congratulating the party leadership and its presidential candidate on the successful conclusion of the ticket selection process.

The ADC officially unveiled Amaechi as Atiku’s running mate on Monday, following extensive consultations within the party hierarchy.

The decision, announced by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, was described as reflecting Amaechi’s performance as runner-up in the ADC presidential primaries and his extensive record in public service, with ADC positioning its ticket as a “unity and rescue ticket.”

Edema expressed confidence that the combination of Atiku’s national stature and Amaechi’s political experience in both the legislative and executive arms of government would present Nigerians with a formidable alternative in the upcoming election.

He noted that the pairing, which he referred to as the ‘AA’ ticket, carries significant strategic advantage for the party.

Speaking on the development, Edema praised the ADC leadership for what he described as a strategic decision that would resonate with voters across the southern region.

He commended Atiku Abubakar for his commitment to building a broad coalition capable of challenging the ruling party and lauded the ADC’s National Working Committee for their role in facilitating the selection process.

“The ‘AA’ ticket is not just a political arrangement but a statement of intent that the ADC is ready to provide the kind of leadership that prioritizes merit, performance, and national cohesion over ethnic and religious sentiment.

“I have no doubt that this ticket will be a game changer for our party and for Nigeria. Atiku Abubakar brings decades of experience in both the private and public sectors, while Rotimi Amaechi has proven his capacity to deliver results, having served as Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly, Governor of Rivers State, and Minister of Transportation. Nigerians will not ignore this combination of competence and character,” Edema stated.
