The Borno State All Progressives Congress (APC) gubernatorial candidate in the 2027 general elections, Alhaji Mustapha Gubio, has reaffirmed his commitment to unity, inclusive governance and the peaceful coexistence among residents of the state. He said the inclusiveness would be maintained, regardless of ethnic background.
Gubio made the pledges on Wednesday in Maiduguri, while inaugurating the new secretariat complex of the Ohanaeze APC Support Group, Borno State chapter.
APC leaders, top government officials, political stakeholders, and representatives of various ethnic and religious groups in the state attended the secretariat office complex commissioning.
The governorship candidate commended the support groups and other ethnic communities for their contributions to Borno State’s political and developmental progress, stressing the need for collective responsibility and inclusive participation in governance at the state and council levels.
Gubio also pledged to build on the achievements of the administration of Governor Babagana Umara Zulum, particularly in peacebuilding, infrastructure development, and the creation of opportunities for residents across the state.
According to him, sustaining the state’s development requires unity, continuity and cooperation among political stakeholders and the diverse communities that make up Borno.
The Coordinator of the Ohanaeze APC Support Group, Chief Ugochukwu Egwudike, described the newly commissioned secretariat as a strategic centre for coordination, community engagement and political mobilisation ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Egwudike expressed appreciation to Governor Zulum for his efforts in promoting peace, developing infrastructure and advancing human capital development across the state.
Speaking at the event, the APC State Chairman, Hon. Bello Ayuba, urged party members and support groups to intensify grassroots mobilisation ahead of the forthcoming elections.
Ayuba, however, charged them with ensuring that their political activities remained peaceful, constructive, and focused on strengthening the party’s support base.
Similarly, Senator Kaka Shehu Lawan, SAN, called for greater unity, cooperation, and sustained engagement among political stakeholders and ethnic communities, noting the importance of collective efforts to strengthen the party and promote Borno State’s development
Representatives of non-indigene communities welcomed the establishment of the secretariat, describing it as an important platform for deepening political engagement and strengthening relations between their communities and the APC.
They also expressed appreciation for the hospitality and support extended to non-indigenes in the state, recalling the provision of free transportation during the administration of Senator Kashim Shettima as governor of Borno State.
Among the dignitaries at the ceremony were the APC Deputy National Chairman (North), Dr Ali Bukar Dalori; Senator Kaka Shehu Lawan, SAN; the APC State Chairman, Hon. Bello Ayuba; Hon. Abdulkadir Rahis; Hon. Mohammed Gambomi Marte; Dr Zanna Modu Gubio; Engr. Saleh Vungas; Engr. Abba Yusuf; and the Executive Chairman of Maiduguri Metropolitan Council, Hon. Ali Bolori.
