2027: Islamic leader Sheikh Zaria vows to ‘repay’ Uba Sani at polls

Kaduna State Governor, Uba Sani

Ahead of the 2027 governorship polls in Kaduna, an Islamic leader, Sheikh Rabiu Abdullahi Zaria, has said that adherents of Islam in the State will repay Governor Uba Sani, just as he commended him for proposing the Kaduna State Religious Commission, which will benefit all religions and the various sects within them.

Sheikh Zaria, who is the Chairman of Fityanul-Islam, spoke at the Murtala Mohammed Square, saying that the Governor has been supporting religious activities since he assumed office.

Sheikh Zaria further said that Governor Sani has never turned down the request of Fityanul-Islam, adding that adherents of the two major religions have never had a more supportive Governor like him.

The Islamic cleric promised that Fityanul-Islam will reciprocate the Governor’s kind gestures because ‘’we will not vote for someone who hates us, someone who will prevent us from celebrating Maulid, or someone who will arrest our Qur’anic pupils.’’

The Chairman of Fityanul-Islam vowed that God willing, the Governor will complete his first term victoriously, “will secure a second term and will ascend to a higher position afterwards”.

Sheikh Zaria, who prayed for God’s guidance, promised that next May, ‘’we will all be gathered here at Murtala Muhammed Square to celebrate your victory at the polls.’’

Also speaking, Governor Sani said that the significance of the Maulid celebration is for people to reflect and emulate the exemplary character of Prophet Muhammad(SAW).

‘’We are all gathered here today to emulate the Prophet and his lifestyle. We are all aware that he embraced everyone, irrespective of religion and ethnicity. This is the significance of this gathering,’’ he said.

According to Governor Sani, ‘’if we emulate the teachings and the lifestyle of Prophet Muhammad(SAW), we will live peacefully as a society and a nation at large.’’

The Governor recalled that when the Prophet(SAW) migrated from Makkah to Madina, he governed in an inclusive manner, irrespective of whether the people were Muslims or Christians.

‘’As leaders today, the only thing that we can do is to emulate the teachings and lifestyle of the Prophet. That is why I commend the leadership of Fityanul-Islam Kaduna State branch for this important gathering.

‘’And as a government, we will continue to give them the support, working closely with Kaduna State Government to ensure peace and stability. Today, Kaduna State has achieved a modest peace and tranquillity in the whole of Nigeria because we embraced everyone, irrespective of religion and tribe”, he stressed.

‘’In this gathering, there are people of different faiths here; some are Muslims, and others are Christians. This is because in Kaduna, we don’t judge you by your religion but by your character,’’ he added.

Governor Sani pointed out that this approach to governance has been having a positive outcome, adding that ‘’I am happy today that we are living peacefully and in harmony.’’
