2027: PRP Presidential Hopeful YMK Rejects Violence, Vote Buying, Rigging

Ahead of the 2027 poll, presidential hopeful of the Peoples Redemption Party (PRP), Engr. (Dr.) Yakubu Mohammed Kingsley (YMK), has called on political parties, candidates and supporters to reject violence, vote buying, political thuggery and election rigging urging Nigerians to embrace issue-based campaigns focused on solving the country’s pressing challenges.

Speaking in a policy statement issued in Abuja following the Independent National Electoral Commission’s (INEC) release of the timetable for the 2027 general elections, YMK said the election season should mark a departure from politics driven by insults, personal attacks and divisive rhetoric.

He argued that Nigerians are more interested in concrete plans to revive the economy, tackle insecurity, create jobs, improve electricity supply, strengthen education and healthcare, fight corruption and promote national unity than in political mudslinging.

“The era of abusive language, character assassination, ethnic profiling, religious manipulation, fake news and politics of bitterness must come to an end,” he said.

According to him, the country’s worsening insecurity and economic hardship are the cumulative consequences of years of poor leadership, corruption, policy inconsistency and weak institutions.
YMK noted that terrorism, banditry, kidnapping and communal conflicts have displaced communities, disrupted farming, forced businesses to close and discouraged investment, while soaring inflation, food prices, unemployment, exchange rate instability and persistent power shortages continue to erode citizens’ living standards.

He further argued that the situation has deteriorated under the current administration, leaving millions of Nigerians grappling with unprecedented economic hardship.

Despite the challenges, the PRP presidential hopeful urged Nigerians not to lose hope, insisting that the nation’s greatest strength lies in the resilience, creativity and determination of its people.

He unveiled the “YMK Nigeria Project,” which he described as a comprehensive governance blueprint aimed at restoring security, rebuilding the economy and strengthening national institutions.
The plan proposes reforms to Nigeria’s security architecture through improved intelligence gathering, stronger inter-agency cooperation, deployment of modern technology, enhanced welfare for security personnel and community policing.

On the economy, YMK pledged to restore investor confidence, promote local production, enforce fiscal discipline and accelerate industrialisation through investments in manufacturing, mining, petrochemicals, steel production, agro-processing and technology.

He also promised to modernise agriculture through mechanised farming, expanded irrigation, improved access to finance and stronger agricultural value chains to boost food production and reduce hunger.

The PRP aspirant said his administration would prioritise stable electricity by expanding power generation, transmission and distribution using gas, hydro, solar and other renewable energy sources while encouraging greater private sector participation.

He added that millions of jobs would be created through industrial expansion, entrepreneurship, digital innovation, vocational skills development and infrastructure projects.

YMK also listed quality education, affordable healthcare, modern transport infrastructure, rural development, transparency and accountable governance among the key priorities of his proposed administration.

Appealing for peaceful conduct throughout the electoral process, he urged Nigerians—particularly young people—to reject political violence, thuggery, vote buying and all forms of electoral manipulation.

He also encouraged eligible citizens to register for or update their Permanent Voter’s Cards (PVCs), stressing that democracy can only flourish through active citizen participation.

YMK pledged that his campaign would remain peaceful, respectful and policy-driven, maintaining that Nigeria’s future should be determined by practical solutions and visionary leadership rather than insults and divisive politics.
