ADC disowns inauguration for South West chairman

African Democratic Congress (ADC)

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has distanced itself from media reports that it is set to inaugurate the South West leadership

The party also said it has neither appointed nor elected any chairman for the South West region, warning that those behind the inauguration are not known to the opposition party.

The ADC said its verified channels of communication have remained the same and flow from its publicity department and all verified handles.

There had been media reports that the South West chairman of the new opposition party was scheduled to be inaugurated.

National Publicity Secretary of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi, in a press statement issued in Abuja on Thursday, said the information was false, did not emanate from the ADC, and should be treated as fake.

The statement said: “This is to inform the general public that the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has not appointed any South West Chairman. Furthermore, the ADC is not inaugurating any South West Chairman at this time.”

The statement continued, “The public is therefore advised to take note of this information and exercise caution regarding any claims or activities suggesting otherwise.”

The ADC spokesman maintained that at the moment, the party has not appointed anyone to the position of South West chairman and stressed that those making the claim should desist forthwith.
