Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has described his victory in the 2026 governorship election as a victory for democracy and the people of the state, pledging to repay their confidence by accelerating development across Osun.

Speaking after his victory, Adeleke said the result reflected the people’s recognition of his administration’s achievements in infrastructure, education, agriculture and other sectors.

“This is a victory for the people of Osun who have stood by me and acknowledged the work I have done.

“They recognise the dividends of democracy in Osun in terms of infrastructure, improved education, agriculture and much more.

“This win is simply a gesture of ‘thank you’. I will repay this gesture by ensuring the state moves from a civil-service state to a fully developed commercial state.

“I expect the APC candidate, Mr. Oyebamiji, to call and congratulate me.

President Tinubu has also called to congratulate me.”

The governor’s remarks came after he secured victory over the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, in the keenly contested election.

Adeleke said the renewed mandate had placed a fresh responsibility on his administration to deliver more development and transform Osun into a stronger commercial hub.

His victory also marks a renewed opportunity for his administration to build on its existing programmes while responding to the expectations of voters who have entrusted him with another term in office.
