Accord Party’s gubernatorial candidate in the 2023 Taraba state governorship election, Professor Jerome Nyameh, has congratulated Osun state governor, Ademola Adeleke, on his victory, describing the outcome as a reflection of the people’s democratic choice.
Nyameh, in a congratulatory message, also commended the people of Osun state for what he described as their courage and determination to defend their votes despite alleged intimidation, political pressure and opposition against the Accord Party and its candidate.
According to him, the outcome demonstrated the strength of popular participation in a democratic process, stressing that the people’s collective will could not be suppressed when they remained united.
He said the victory was not only significant for Governor Adeleke and his supporters but also represented a major development for members and supporters of the Accord Party.
“Congratulations, Your Excellency, Governor Ademola Adeleke, on your victory,” Nyameh said.
“To the good people of Osun State, you have made your choice, and your voice has been heard.”
The Accord gubernatorial candidate further expressed appreciation to voters who, according to him, stood firm in defence of their votes despite the challenges encountered during the electoral process.
He alleged that the Accord Party and its candidate faced intimidation, pressure and political opposition, but maintained that the electorate demonstrated resilience by standing by their choice.
Nyameh said the development had once again shown that democracy derives its legitimacy from the people, adding that when citizens unite to defend their votes, their decision cannot easily be silenced.
He urged political actors to respect the will of the electorate and uphold the principles of democracy, stressing the importance of peaceful political participation and respect for electoral outcomes.
The Taraba Accord candidate concluded by extending his congratulations to governor Adeleke, his supporters and the entire Accord family, describing the victory as a moment worthy of celebration.
“Congratulations once again to Governor Adeleke and the entire Accord Party family,” he said.
