All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain in Rivers State, Chief Eze C. Eze, has called on Nigerians to stop patronising Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State because he was merely globe-trotting in search of relevance.

Eze, in a statement, yesterday, accused the governor of not only wasting Rivers resources, but also raising his nuisance value through rabble-rousing. Eze, who is also a former spokesman of the defunct new Peoples Democratic Party (nPDP), which helped birth APC, said: “It is regrettable and deeply disturbing to learn that monies meant for the welfare and development of Rivers and her people are being diverted and manifestly misappropriated with impunity without remorse.”

He disclosed that ever since Wike lost the presidential ticket and running mate slot of PDP, he had been engaging in endless shopping spree for relevance and accommodation to avert the collapse of his political empire.

Describing Wike’s claim of pursuing national interest as deceitful, the APC stalwart noted that although the Rivers governor has met almost all the key political leaders in the country, including presidential candidates of major political parties, most people are keeping him at arms length.

His words: “Wike has met Peter Obi of Labour Party (LP), Tinubu of APC, Kwankwaso of New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) and of course his own political party’s presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar.

“He has also met with former President Olusegun Obasanjo among others, without finding it wise to visit his immediate boss and benefactor, Chibuike Amaechi, to seek wise counsel. It is a pity that he forgot that his unwise attack on Amaechi, who fed him, is the cause of the rejection he currently suffers in the hands of those he is approaching.”

Eze, therefore, declared that until Wike apologises to Amaechi for all that he did to undermine him, the governor would continue to wander all over the place like the Biblical Cain without any direction or positive result.

“Reports say that his meeting and presentation to some of these leaders are being treated as a drowning man grabbing every available straw. In his meeting with Atiku, his major demand was that the PDP national chairman, Dr. Iyorchia Ayu, must resign to pave way for him to nominate another chairman.

“As one who prides himself as a key member of the party, one would have expected Wike to know that his request is self-centred with the tendency of causing havoc for the party and, therefore, grossly thoughtless and flamboyant to place such request,” he added.
