The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has revealed that the All Progressives Congress (APC) failed to conduct its primary election ahead of the forthcoming bye-election to fill the vacant position in Ibadan North Federal Constituency.
This was disclosed by the electoral body on Wednesday in Ibadan.
Following the vacuum created by the death of the lawmaker representing the constituency, Olayide Akinremi, the APC was supposed to conduct its primary ahead of the bye-election slated to hold in August.
INEC in Oyo State has, however, declared that the APC failed to conduct its primary.
INEC noted that all efforts to monitor the APC primary proved abortive.
In a letter dated 21st July, 2025, and addressed to the Director of Election and Party Monitoring at INEC Headquarters in Abuja, the Acting Administrative Secretary in Oyo State, Rosemary Alaba Adeniyi, submitted a formal report on the exercise.
According to an attached report signed by Kehinde Omisile, the Acting Head of Department for Election and Party Monitoring (EPM), INEC in Oyo State categorically declared that all efforts made by the electoral body to monitor the party’s primary election at the weekend proved abortive.
The letter reads: “All efforts to monitor the APC Primary Election as specified in another letter signed by the State Secretary and submitted on Sunday, 20 July, 2025, proved abortive.”
