Deputy National Chairman (South) of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Benjamin Obi Nwoye, has assured founding members of the party that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu does not forget loyal party faithful, urging members to remain steadfast as the party prepares for the 2027 general elections.
Nwoye gave the assurance while receiving members of the G37, a group of former state chairmen of the defunct Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) and other legacy party leaders, during a solidarity visit to the APC National Secretariat on Tuesday in Abuja.
He said although not every loyal member had secured political appointments, Tinubu remained a leader who values commitment and sacrifice.
“My plea is that you should remain steadfast. Asiwaju is not someone who forgets. By the grace of God, he has a good memory,” Nwoye said.
The APC chieftain called on party members to close ranks and intensify mobilisation efforts, warning that the opposition must not be allowed to derail the party’s agenda or distract President Tinubu from implementing his reform programmes.
“As the opposition continues to regroup, it is our responsibility not to allow them distract our leader, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. We must mobilise our members, reconnect with them and reignite their energy. We have no better option than to re-elect a man who has a clear vision for reforming Nigeria,” he stated.
Highlighting achievements of the Tinubu administration, Nwoye pointed to ongoing road infrastructure projects across different parts of the country, saying Nigerians were already benefiting from the government’s development initiatives.
He also stressed the need for the APC to continue recognising its founding members, saying the sacrifices of those who built the party should never be forgotten even as new members are welcomed into its fold.
Earlier, leader of the G37, Comrade Cletus Obum, appealed to the party leadership to ensure that legacy members who laid the foundation of the APC are given greater consideration in appointments, committee memberships and election assignments.
Obum said recognising the pioneers of the party would strengthen loyalty and preserve the progressive ideals upon which the APC was built, adding that the group remained committed to the success of President Tinubu and the party ahead of the 2027 general elections.
