In a massive show of grassroots political strength ahead of the 2027 general elections, stalwarts and loyalists of the All Progressives Congress (APC) turned out en masse at the Methodist Primary School in Oshodi to officially affirm President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as the party’s undisputed consensus candidate for a second term.
The high-octane validation rally, organized by the Oshodi-Isolo chapter of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors, was designed to send a clear signal from Oshodi-Isolo Local Government Area: within the ruling party, the presidency remains a non-negotiable ticket.
Party leaders and stakeholders at the venue repeatedly hammered home the message of absolute party unity, describing the President’s candidacy as a mono-product requiring no internal contest, but rather a nationwide validation.
The Renewed Hope Coordinator for Oshodi-Isolo, Olukayode Tinubu, made it clear that the grassroots machinery is already fully activated for the 2027 run.
“All over the local government, people are ready to move en masse to ensure that Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu comes back for a second term.
“Nobody all over the country is contesting against him; it is a mono-product for the party. Today is just to validate that choice,” Olukayode stated.
An APC chieftain and founder of the Oshodi Interest Group, Dr. Kalejaiye Banjoko, noted that the impressive turnout of members was a clear indication that Oshodi is fully prepared to lead the charge for the ruling party’s victory in the upcoming electoral cycle.
Acknowledging the current socio-economic landscape, stalwarts at the rally positioned themselves as frontline advocates tasked with explaining the long-term vision of the administration to the public.
The lawmaker representing Oshodi-Isolo Constituency I in the Lagos State House of Assembly. Ogundipe Stephen Olukayode (aka Omojomolo), declared that Oshodi remains an impenetrable base for the President. He charged members to become emotional and intellectual foot soldiers in the local communities.
“We are here to tell the world that Oshodi is actually President Asiwaju home base,” Hon. Ogundipe said, pointing to major federal milestones like the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) and mega infrastructure projects like the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway as proof of delivery.
“We need to talk to our market women, our mothers and those who are not well-informed of all the things that have been happening so they can support him.”
Addressing the temporary friction, Olukayode Tinubu added: “We need to keep talking to people about the temporary pains of the Renewed Hope Agenda and the future gains it is going to bring. There is no gain without pain and after every pain, there must be gain.”
The rally’s massive momentum also weathered a brief moment of local political drama. Prominent APC stalwart Musiliu Akinsanya, popularly known as MC Oluomo, expressed his displeasure over a temporary standoff at the venue. Security operatives had initially sealed the gates of the Methodist Primary School, allegedly acting on directives from the local council authority.
The situation was defused following a swift intervention by the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, allowing supporters into the venue.
Without naming specific local rivals, Akinsanya launched a pointed critique at elements within the local government structure.
“It is unfortunate that some individuals who rose politically through the influence and structure of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu are now attempting to frustrate activities organised in support of the President,” Akinsanya said. “Nevertheless, the APC remains a family, and no amount of intimidation can divide loyal progressives.”
While thanking the Lagos State Commissioner of Police for a swift intervention that allowed party faithful access, MC Oluomo fired a warning shot at internal detractors.
“It is unfortunate that some individuals who rose politically through the influence and structure of President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu are now attempting to frustrate activities organized in support of the President,” MC Oluomo declared, asserting that the progressive family would not be intimidated or divided.
To cement Oshodi’s stance as a critical progressive stronghold, the affirmation process, coordinated by Smart Akinyemi extended beyond the presidency to endorse a unified lineup of key candidates for the 2027 polls:
Lagos State Governor, Kadiri Femi Hamzat, Lagos West Senatorial District, Dr Idiat Adebule, Oshodi-Isolo Federal Constituency I, Taiwo Aiyedun and Lagos State House of Assembly (Oshodi-Isolo I, Hon. Ogundipe Stephen Olukayode
The atmosphere ended in a charged celebration, with deafening chants of ‘Renewed Hope’ and “Asiwaju 2027” reverberating across the venue, signaling that the APC machinery in Oshodi is fully oiled and ready for the campaign ahead.
